On the 22nd January 1970, Lahey employee – Colin (Col) Howe – commenced his employment and today we celebrate his outstanding 50 year anniversary.

Starting as an apprentice, Col worked in Lahey’s joinery division for many years before moving into a Finishing Foreman role within Lahey’s construction arm. Col has since worked in almost every region of NSW and has been a major factor in the successful delivery of a large number of Lahey’s regional and metro projects over his illustrious 50 year career. Today, Col continues to work for Lahey in his current role on the Charles Sturt University Stage 2A project in Port Macquarie.

Col is one of the best hands-on chippies in the game, verified by winning the ‘Best use of Timber’ awards for the Green Square Creative Centre (GSCC) in the 2018 MBA Awards. On GSCC, Col led Lahey’s team of in-house Carpenters through the coordination and installation of the internal and external “shells”, which required all components and materials of the “shells” to be installed within extremely tight tolerances.

To have any employee reach 50 years’ service is an amazing feat rarely achieved in this day and age. Col we are lucky to have you; thank you for your ongoing service and dedication to the company.
