Green Square Community Centre and Cultural Precinct Open Day

The City of Sydney recently hosted an open day for the Green Square Community and Cultural Precinct. The Lord Mayor of Sydney, Clover Moore gave an overview of the Green Square Precinct, including current and upcoming works, with Gadigal Elder, Uncle Chicka Madden, giving the Welcome to Country. The event was attended by over 150 members of the public who saw first-hand, the progress that is being made to reinvigorate and revitalise the area. Pulse Oximeters Purchased!

The Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation has purchased two Pulse Oximeter Machines with the donations we raised at Christmas! Lahey’s Bid Director, Guy Tristram, visited the Hospital to experience first-hand what the machine does for the Hospital’s Sleep Medicine Unit. The machines are a simple and effective way to screen babies and children for potentially life-threatening sleep conditions by measuring oxygen levels in the blood. They help SCH identify which children need to be prioritised in sleep studies, and have dramatically reduced the extensive waiting list. Harbord Public School is Hi-Tech!

Channel 7 Sunrise morning news ran a segment on the new, Hi-Tech, Harbord Public school over the weekend. The article focused on how the school are introducing new and advanced learning techniques, by using the space and furniture to create flexible, learning environments for the staff and students. Alice Springs Hospital RED is Opened!

The official opening of the Alice Springs Hospital Research Education and Development (RED) Centre that took place last month was an astounding success as the NT Minister for Health, Natasha Fyles, graced us with her presence at the ceremony. The new two-storey building, also known as the Teaching and Training Facility, boasts a 100 seat theatre, training and tutorial rooms, video conference rooms, student lounge, student computer hub and office areas. The state of the art education suite is now fully operational as ASH welcomes their new interns.

Toronto Police Station Goes Live!

Congratulations to the Toronto Police Station site team, who recently handed over the new Toronto Police Station several weeks early and on budget.  The ‘Go Live’ date for the station was 7th March, the staff are delighted with their new ‘state of the art’ facility. The new police station was constructed on the same site as the old existing station, on the corner of Cary and Thorne Street. This Christmas, Lahey Constructions raised donations to The Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation. With the help of our staff and valued subcontractors, we achieved our target which was to raise enough funds for SCHF to purchase two ‘Pulse Oximeter’ machines, which are urgently needed in the Sleep Ward. A Pulse Oximeter is a machine that is used to measure the oxygen level in blood, particularly how well oxygen is being sent to different parts of a child’s body that is far away from their heart, such as their arms and legs. A Second Visit at Harbord Public School

The NSW Premier, Mike Baird, returned to Harbord Public School for a second site visit on Wednesday 7th December. The Premier addressed the school during a special assembly on the morning and completed his visit with a tour of the new facility. Our education team continue to work hard fitting out the new facility and preparing for the external works. Riverstone Police Station Goes Live!

Lahey Constructions has recently handed over the new Riverstone Police Station. This is Lahey Constructions 9th Police Station that we have delivered for NSW Police Force. The original heritage building was designed by the government architect WL Vernon, and built in 1892 for use as a lock-up keeper’s residence, the late Victorian brick building was converted for use as a police station in 1979 and remodelled in 1981. Move forward 30 years and this ‘next generation’ style of police station, designed by Gardner Wetherill, will house 63 NSW Police Force personnel.
