Celebrating a semisesquicentennial is a pretty big deal (especially if you know what it means!). It’s an even bigger deal when you realise that Lahey Constructions is one of only a handful of the 360,000 construction businesses across Australia to achieve that milestone. What’s more, if you go back to Lahey’s humble beginnings as a local joinery (established in 1938), we’ve been around even longer. Since Lahey Constructions was formed in 1946 our business has continued to go from strength to strength, and we’d like to share with…

ARM YOURSELF! | Today’s news of further snap lockdowns in the NSW Hunter region are a stark reminder that the Delta strain is continuing to quickly spread. With COVID restrictions being repeatedly extended, it can feel like there is no end in sight to this pandemic. At Lahey Constructions, we recognise that there is a way out – a way for our lives to return to normal – by vaccinating as many people as quickly as possible. That is why we are encouraging our staff, families, and extended connections to arm themselves against COVID-19 as soon as they can. To…

NAIDOC Week celebrates the richness and diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and culture. It’s a week where all Australians can celebrate, learn and grow together. The theme this year is ‘Heal Country’. To do this, we all need to embrace the cultural knowledge of First Nations people and understanding of country as more than just a place. The team at Lahey Constructions acknowledges the land on which we live, meet and work. From our head office on Dunghutti land in Kempsey and our Sydney office on Gadigal land at Pyrmont, to our worksites across Gumbaynggirr, Birpai, Wanaruah,…

A host of Lahey Constructions employees recently met up with visiting members of the Upper Macleay Yowies Football Club to present a hefty cheque for $3,000 towards purchasing winter club jackets. With a tagline that proudly declares “From the ashes we rise as one” the Yowies are a testament to the resilient spirit shared among those directly affected by the devastating bushfires of Black Summer 2019. Many families within the Upper Macleay lost houses or property and were still reeling from the tragedy when it came time to register for the 2020 football season. The once thriving Yowies Club managed…

Today marks the first day of Men’s Health Week 2021. Lahey Constructions would like to honour the strengths and contributions of our male staff and encourage men to take a more active role in improving their mental health and their relationships – with family, friends, mates, colleagues, and communities. The theme for Men’s Health Week is all about CONNECTING. It is evident in the construction industry that work can come first, and the hours can pull away from other important activities – like going to the doctors for regular check-ups, spending that extra time with our families, or simply catching…
