The City of Sydney recently hosted an open day for the Green Square Community and Cultural Precinct. The Lord Mayor of Sydney, Clover Moore gave an overview of the Green Square Precinct, including current and upcoming works, with Gadigal Elder, Uncle Chicka Madden, giving the Welcome to Country. The event was attended by over 150 members of the public who saw first-hand, the progress that is being made to reinvigorate and revitalise the area.

Lahey are currently extending and refurbishing the Joynton Avenue Creative Centre (the former South Sydney Hospital, Esme Cahill Building), the ‘Banga’ Community Shed and the Green Infrastructure Centre (GIC). The development is complimented by the new Matron Ruby Grant Park which connects the sites. The new park boasts feature ‘rain gardens’ that run parallel along the length of the park, the JJ Collins memorial fountain, picnic and playground areas for the community to enjoy.
