Southern Highlands Police Station Sod Turning Ceremony

The official sod turning ceremony was held on-site last month to mark the official start of construction for the new Southern Highlands Police Station. The ceremony was attended by (from left to right); Mark de Fraga (Project Administrator BGIS), Reza Moradi (Snr Project Manager BGIS), Vargha Zare (COO Lahey Constructions), Pru Goward (MP for Goulburn), Andrew Koutsoufis (Hume LAC Commander), Gary Worboys (Assistant Commissioner), Jai Rowell (MP for Wollondilly), Liam Linehan (Project Director BGIS), John Klepczarek (Inspector), Brendan Bernie (Chief Inspector) and Geoff Webb (Police Chaplin).

The new Southern Highlands Police Station is part of the progressive roll-out of ‘next generation’ designed Police Stations across the state. The new station includes; state of the art custodial suite which allows officers to carry out their duties whilst ensuring the best care and safety for detainees, in addition there will also be a large training and conference room which doubles up as an incident room in times of emergency.

Staff will have access to the latest technology which only will enhance police capabilities to deal with crime in the local and surrounding areas. The new facility will house up to 50 all staff working various shift patterns, keeping the local communities safe.
